Legs4Africa

Legs4Africa is a unique Bristol based charity that supports some of the most disadvantaged amputees in the world.  In short, we pick up prosthetic legs from all over the UK, dismantle them, and ship them to West Africa, primarily The Gambia, to get people walking again.

In the UK prosthetic limbs can not be re-used for some bizarre reason. So, we make the most of this and send them over to countries that can re-use them. We give discarded legs a new lease of life and individuals in the developing world the chance to re-gain their independence, confidence and mobility. So far we have rescued over 4,000 legs and we are one of the only organisations doing this vital work.
