Student Minds

Student Minds is the UK’s student mental health charity. We empower students and members of the university community to develop the knowledge, confidence and skills to look after their own mental health, support others and create change.

Currently, we work with students and staff at over 100 universities across the UK. We train and support student-led groups to provide direct, formal peer support groups for students experiencing either eating difficulties or mild depression. We also coordinate a network of student campaign groups, who spread the message about student mental health on the ground.

Meanwhile, our Train the Trainer programmes equip university staff to run workshops to build mental health literacy on their campuses. These workshops take two forms – Mental Health in Sport, which helps sports teams to support their members, and Look After Your Mate, which informs individuals how to best support their friends and flatmates.

Nationally, we run research-driven campaigns, and create resources to encourage students to take care of their own mental health. We drive national change by developing research and policy recommendations and by sharing best practice, as influenced by the student voice.

Together we will transform the state of student mental health so that all in higher education can thrive.
